As Little Miami heads into the Eastern Cincinnati Conference this fall, a new leader will be at the helm of the Panther athletics program.

Pending Board of Education approval at the June 24 meeting, Matthew Louis will become Little Miami’s new athletic director. For the last five years, Louis has served as the assistant athletic director and special teams coordinator/OLB coach for Middletown City Schools. Prior to that, he served as athletic director at Springboro Community City Schools and Xenia Community Schools.

"I am deeply honored and humbled that the leadership of Little Miami Schools has entrusted me to lead the athletic department and the student-athletes of this fine Warren County school district,” Louis said. “Our primary mission will be to provide Panther Nation with the very best resources available, which will allow the development of our students to reach their highest potential as complete student-athletes.”

Louis has a master’s degree in sports administration from Xavier University and a bachelor’s degree in business from Muskingum University. He brings with him several years of experience managing winning athletics programs, including three straight years of All-Sports Champions in the Greater Western Ohio Conference while at Springboro.

"As we move forward into the 2020-21 school year, there is great excitement about the future of Little Miami athletics,” Louis said. “Along with the installation of our mission, the vision for the program will be rooted in the plan that we'll be a championship caliber department in all facets of operations and on the field.

“I'm excited to be a driving force that helps propel our young people to reach exemplary levels of success academically, athletically, and professionally."

LM Superintendent Greg Power said he was pleased to recommend Louis to the Board.

“We are excited to have Matt take our athletics program into the ECC and its next chapter,” said Superintendent Greg Power. “He impressed our interview team with his broad knowledge and his eagerness to get to work here at Little Miami.”

Louis takes over the program vacated by Keith Pantling, who served as LM athletic director for two years. Pantling accepted the athletic director position at Lebanon City Schools.

Louis’ first day on the job will be July 20.
