Little Miami continues to build a tradition of excellence on the field and now there is a way to honor those who have contributed to Panther athletic success.

On Saturday, Jan. 27, Little Miami will honor a few of its best and brightest by inducting the first class into its new Athletic Hall of Fame.

The first group of honorees includes outstanding individuals in each of the four Hall of Fame categories: Athlete, Coach, Team and Key Contributor.

Members of the 2018 Hall of Fame class are:

  • Athletes: Matt Craig, Patrick Fitzgerald, Kevin Mirlisena, Tammy Stover, Steven Zimmerman.
  • Coach: Norm Runyan
  • Key Contributor: Corinne Curcio
  • Team: 1981-82 Wrestling Team

The mission of the Little Miami Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize athletes, coaches and contributors who have made a substantial positive impact on the athletic program at Little Miami High School.

The Hall of Fame came about after a group of former and current coaches, athletes and administrators worked for more than a year to gather athletic records and to establish group by-laws and honoree selection criteria. The group seated its first selection committee in September 2017 and considered more than 20 nominations. Serving on the committee are:

  • Current Little Miami Boys' Coach: Chad Craft
  • Current Little Miami Girls' Coach: Matt Tolliver
  • Community Member: Brian Duermit
  • Community Member: Jake Pennix
  • Athletic Booster Member-at-Large: Cheravon Davidson
  • Athletic Booster Member-at-Large: Patty Wehrung
  • LM Athletic Director: Tiffany Sawyer
  • Retired Coach/Administrator: Tim Martin
  • Retired Coach/Administrator: Gary Duermit

“A hall of fame is a piece that has been missing from our overall athletic program for years,” Sawyer said. “While we strive for wins now and in the future, what better way is there to honor those who have committed their time and talent to achieve greatness in our past. This group of individuals are truly the best of the best.”

LMHS will host a dinner for honorees, guests and fans on Saturday, Jan. 27 in the multi-purpose gym. Following the program, honorees will be introduced at halftime of the Little Miami v. Kings men’s basketball game. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 (including service fee) and may be purchased here.
