Long-time Little Miami cross country and track coach Jackie Engle brought her coaching career to a close recently as she and her husband prepare to move out of the district.

Engle has worked with hundreds of athletes during her 13-year tenure as head varsity girls track coach and two years as varsity girls cross country coach. During her time at Little Miami, she has seen the girls track team more than triple in size and become a force in the Southwest Ohio Conference, including two second place finishes in the last two years.

She answered a few questions before her departure.

Q. How long have you lived in the district and when did your children graduate from LM?

A. We moved to the district in 2001 - my oldest daughter was in 7th grade and my youngest in the first grade. I have four girls who graduated from LM in 2008, 2011. 2013 and 2014. They all ran for me and I always thought I would retire once my youngest graduated, but stayed for five more years because I love coaching so much. Sydney, my youngest, has been my assistant for the last five years and that has been so much fun too!

Q. What are some of the accomplishments you are proudest of as a coach?

A. As far as accomplishments go, it's always fun to be a part of someone breaking a school record (we've had a few), and great to be second in SWOC for the last two years, but the best accomplishments are the individual personal records the girls would achieve throughout the seasons because of the sense of achievement they would feel.

Q. What are your plans now and do you think coaching is still in your future?

A. I have been a personal trainer for the last 32 years and will continue to do that (always coaching). My husband and I have decided to move to Oakley and be a part of the exciting atmosphere in Cincinnati. Let's see how we do as "city slickers!"
