A Little Miami High School sophomore recently won regional recognition for his skills in an unusual setting -- a bass fishing boat.

Dylan Behrmann was recently named the Cincinnati Youth Bass Club’s Angler of the Year for his age division. The award is based on an accumulation of points for five bass fishing tournaments during the year, along with participation in a community service project.

Behrmann is a member of the Youth Bass Club, a non-profit organization marking 10 years of instilling the love of fishing in youth of all ages, along with the value of community service. Beginning at age 11, youth members advance to fishing from a bass boat with a co-angler, and the points they earn in each tournament count toward them earning a spot in the state championships.

Behrmann placed in four of the group’s annual tournaments:

  • Hidden Valley - May 4th - 2nd Place
  • Whitewater - June 2 - 2nd Place
  • Kincaid Lake - August 4 - 3rd Place
  • Ohio River - September 15 - 1st Place

He also earned points for participating in the Association’s community service project, which was a donation drive for our troops. He attended the Tri-State Fishing Expo in January, and met with two of the group’s sponsors, Dixie Marine and Wieda's Marine.

This is also Behrman’’s first year in the Bass Club, and won Angler of the Year as a rookie.
