It was literally a weekend for the record books.
Little Miami women's swimming was in the business of shattering records during recent sectional competition at Mason High School.
The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Olivia Lassen (freshman), Kara Benbow (freshman), Zoe Rogers (junior), Alison Benbow (junior) set the bar high for Panthers to come. The team swam the event in 2:03.90, breaking a school record that had stood since 2007 and knocking six full seconds off the old record.
Rogers also shaved three tenths of a second off the school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:13.27. And Alison Benbow set a new team record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.05.
Alison Benbow also qualified for Districts in the 50-yard freestyle and the women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Lassen, Rogers, Benbow and Benbow qualified for Districts as the number one alternate. An impressive feat, according to Coaches Drew Davies and Jim German, as Little Miami has not been represented at Districts since the 2014–2015 swim season.
On the day after sectionals competition, Panthers returned to the pool at the Fred Cooper Invitational held at St. Xavier High School.
During this meet, the team of Rogers, Lassen, Benbow and Benbow were at it again, shattering a school record that had stood for 11 years, swimming the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:51.55.
The boys team had a great meet as well. Although no records were broken they all performed their best times of the year.
