While Little Miami cheerleaders may do their work on the sidelines, the tumbling and stunting they do makes their sport as physical as those happening on the field.

Entering their second year of stunting (cheer routines that include lifts and “flying”), Little Miami cheerleaders are setting the pace for other squads in the Southwest Ohio Conference.

Head Coach Amy Moore has taken over leadership of the Little Miami varsity cheer squad after former coach Andrea Florea relocated out of state.

A former cheerleader and varsity volleyball player herself, Moore was named Coach of the Year award at COA Nationals. She also is a USASF Dance Worlds qualifier (four years), and won Best Pyramid Award with Americheer, and Best Choreography Award with Elite Cheer.

She brings 18 years of varsity coaching experience to Little Miami and is ready to have a great fall season.

Q. What are your goals for this season?
A. To continue to build our cheer teams and increase our level of ability in our stunting. I also want to continue the core relationship that we have with the youth program because they are our future LMHS cheerleaders.

Q. Who will be your toughest opponents and why?
A. Northwest because they are the only SWOC cheerleading program that can build (stunt) and we will compete against them at the Harrison Cheer Classic.

Q. Who are you looking to this year to be a leader/leaders for your squad and why?
A. I always look to my seniors to be leaders and to take on the responsibility of leadership. They not only have grown up in the program and know the expectations of a LMHS cheerleader but they are also getting ready to go out into the world on their own.

“I have a passion and drive for cheer, it's like my second family. I have been in this sport for many years now and love being a part of its evolution,” she said. “I can honestly say I eat, sleep, and breathe cheer! I feel so honored and blessed to be able to do what I love every day, with athletes and parents who are just as passionate about the sport as I am.”
